Jesse L. Martin, who plays police captain Joe West on The Flash, will leave The CW superhero series to star in a new pilot for NBC.

Deadline reports that actor Jesse L. Martin will no longer be a member of The Flash‘s regular cast. Martin, who was one of just four of the series’ original cast members still on the show, is leaving to star in the pilot for The Irrational, a new drama series in production at NBC. The report states that the character of Joe West may still appear in a few episodes of The Flash’s ninth season, which is scheduled to premiere next fall.
