What to Expect for Bunny Day 2022

Each year, Zipper T. Bunny descends on Animal Crossing: New Horizons to celebrate the in-game holiday equivalent of Easter. During this event, players can earn, craft, and purchase unique Bunny Day items and recipes. The dates of the event change every year to coincide with the Easter holiday, and though the main event takes place on one specific day, players are actually given several days leading up to the finale to participate in the event.

Animal Crossing usually gives players plenty of time to collect what they need, but in 2020, the amount of eggs inundating the game over the event’s 12-day period had a negative impact on player enjoyment and productivity. The eggs were so plentiful, they often replaced other important resources needed to complete other tasks in the game. Here’s how New Horizons will be handling Bunny Day this year and what players can expect from the event.

When Does Bunny Day Take Place?

Animal Crossing New Horizons Bunny Day Event

The official date for Bunny Day 2022 is April 17, when Zipper returns to hand out recipes for four items he needs the player to craft. Eggs will be required to craft all four items, so it’s important to begin collecting them as soon as possible. In the past, Bunny Day was a 12-day event, but this year it will only last for eight, which suggests the developers were trying to at least cut back on the overwhelming onslaught of eggs.

Since April 10, eggs have been spawning all over the island, and while there may seem to be an overabundance of them, it’s imperative to the upcoming missions to have plenty of items to work with when it’s time to start crafting.

Zipper can be found during the event wandering around the island. Find and speak to him to launch the event quests and earn special item recipes and tasks. Be sure to collect as many eggs of each type as possible in order to craft the items offered.

Where to Find Bunny Day Eggs

There are six types of Bunny Day eggs: Wood, Water, Earth, Stone, Sky, and Leaf. Wood Eggs can be found by hitting trees with a variety of axe tools, potentially knocking up to three eggs from the tree at a time. Water Eggs can be obtained through fishing in rivers or streams. The Earth Eggs are buried in the ground and can be unearthed through digging. Stone Eggs are found inside the island’s rocks.

There will be a number of floating balloons presents in the sky that may contain Sky Eggs, which players can shoot down with a slingshot. Floating balloons may also contain other presents, like recipes. Leaf Eggs appear on fruitless trees and can be shaken to the ground. There are a limited number of eggs trees on the island, but others can be found on Mystery Islands.

Villagers may also gift eggs to players, so be sure to talk to friends as often as opportunities arise. Eggs can also be traded on Bunny Day by talking to Zipper. Players will also need to make sure they collect enough specific types of eggs in order to get the recipes to craft certain clothing items.

What Recipes And Items Will Be Offered During Bunny Day?

This year, there are a total of 18 Bunny Day furniture item recipes, including the Bunny Day arch, bed, wardrobe, lamp, flooring, and wallpaper. There are also 22 outfit recipes available, many of which will require a specific number of specific egg types to craft. Zipper isn’t the only source of Bunny Day recipes. Floating balloons may contain unique recipes instead of Sky Eggs, so shoot down as many as possible to expand crafting capabilities.

Some villagers also have recipes they’re willing to share, like the Bunny Day Crown and Bag. Additionally, egg message bottles can wash up on the shore and contain special messages from Zipper that could include a recipe. Nook’s Cranny shop also has five exclusive items that can only be purchased. These unique items were originally added to the game for the 2021 Bunny Day festivities and include Bunny Day candy, garden flags, planter boxes, topiaries, and egg-decorated trees.
