City Hunter to Head Back to the Big Screen! | Anime News


Classic anime City Hunter is heading back to the big screen with a new animated feature currently in the works!

Adapted from the manga by Tsukasa Hojo, the hardboiled comedy series takes place in Shinjuku, Tokyo. The story follows private detective and “sweeper” Ryo Saeba, whose associate Hideyuki Makimura is murdered by gangsters. This leaves him to take care of Makimura’s younger sister, Kaori, who also becomes his new partner.

The manga debuted in 1985, followed by a TV anime adaptation that began in 1987. It also received a series of anime films, the most recent being City Hunter the Movie: Shinjuku Private Eyes in 2019.

The new film will feature the original ending theme, “Get Wild” by TM NETWORK. Voice actor Akira Kamiya will also be reprising his role as Ryo Saeba.
