Production I.G’s The Deer King has revealed a new trailer and visual along with its Japanese premiere date!
After two delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the film will finally screen in Japan from February 4.
Inspired by Nahoko Uehashi’s novel series, The Deer King follows Van, a former soldier who escapes slavery as a mysterious illness begins to plague the world, and Yuna, a young girl he takes in. Meanwhile, genius doctor Hossal searches for a cure to the unexplained sickness.
The film is co-directed by Masashi Ando and Masayuki Miyaji with a script by Taku Kishimoto.
The Deer King opens at theaters across Japan on February 4, 2022. It will also be screened in North America in early 2022 by GKIDS.
