The upcoming live action stage play adaptation of Hayao Miyazaki’s iconic Spirited Away has announced its main cast!
Each of the confirmed roles are double-castings as follows:
Kotaro Daigo ( Weathering with You ) and Hiroki Miura ( Musical: Touken Ranbu ) as Haku
Choreographers Koharu Sugawara and Tomohiko Tsujimoto as No Face
Former Takurazaka Revue actresses Miyu Sakihi and Fu Hinami as Lin
Tomorowo Taguchi ( Gantz live action films) and Satoshi Hashimoto as Kamaji
Mari Natsuki (the original voice of Yubaba) and renowned voice actress Romi Park as Yubaba
They will be joining previously announced cast members Kanna Hashimoto and Mone Kamishiraishi, who will share the role of Chihiro.
The production will hold its worldwide premiere in Tokyo in February 2022 and will run until March. Performances are also confirmed for Osaka, Fukuoka, Sapporo, and Nagoya later in the year.
First released in 2001, Spirited Away follows 10-year-old Chihiro Ogino, who finds herself trapped in a world full of spirits. In order to free her parents and go back to her life as a human, she works in a bathhouse with the help of a mysterious boy named Haku.
One of Studio Ghibli’s most popular films, Spirited Away earned both critical and financial success worldwide, going on to receive the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2003.
Spirited Away‘s live action stage play will premiere in February 2022 in Tokyo.
