DC Comics announces Green Arrow: Stranded, a new middle-grade graphic novel focusing on a younger Oliver Queen.
DC Comics has announced Green Arrow: Stranded, a new original graphic novel for middle-grade readers from writer Brendan Deneen and artist Bell Hosalla.
Stranded focuses on a 13-year-old Oliver Queen, who has “always hated the idea of hunting,” but is roped into a hunting trip by his father, who “insisted they go on this trip with his business partner, Sebastian, and his son, Tyler.” Ollie soon comes face-to-face with some teasing and doubts about whether his father will ever feel pride in him again after he “fails to take a perfect shot.”
Things take a turn for the worse when their private jet crash-lands on a deserted island after being hit by lightning. With his father injured and the other passengers having mysteriously vanished, Ollie’s only hope for survival requires him to “have to learn skills he’s avoided developing so far.” Not helping matters is Ollie feeling “less sure of who he is… or if he will be able to hang on until help arrives.”
Stranded will be the first time Deneen and Hosalla have contributed to the world of DC Comics, as well the first time Hosalla has worked on a graphic novel. Stranded is currently set to release on March 1, 2022, preceding both the previously announced Green Lantern: Alliance and Shazam! Thundercrack OGNs, which will respectively release on April 5, 2022 and June 7, 2022.
Written by Brendan Deneen and illustrated by Bell Hosalla, Green Arrow: Stranded will release digitally and in participating bookstores on March 1, 2022.
