The Folio Society is releasing a new deluxe edition collection of Captain America comics to commemorate the classic character’s 80th anniversary.
The collection features work from industry icons like Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Jim Steranko. It also features work from influential artists and writers like Ed Brubaker, Frank Miller and Gene Colan. The selections are carefully chosen by former Marvel Editor-in-Chief Roy Thomas, who also provides the literary introduction for this new edition.
The hardback collection features new cover art from the award-winning artist Michael Cho, and a sapphire cloth slipcover emblazoned with Captain America’s unmistakable emblem. It also includes an exact replica of Captain America #1. From the famous cover of Captain America punching out Adolf Hitler to the original story and advertisements, the replica features scans made from an original copy of the extremely rare comic, one of the ten most valuable single issues in the world.
The contents of the collection cover Captain America’s 80-year history beginning with 1942’s “Red Skull’s Deadly Revenge!” The bulk of the stories are drawn from the Silver Age of the 1960s and beyond, and the collection concludes with 2009’s “Red, White and Blue-Blood.”
The deluxe edition is selling for $125 and is available from the Folio Society’s web page.
