Diana’s at a conference in Washington where a new company, Blue Ice, is peddling technology to politicians that can theoretically fight drought and enhance food security across the globe. Diana then attends a trial where it’s revealed they can make it rain anywhere, anytime using special blimps. However, it backfires as it starts to drop dangerous ice spikes.

Diana goes after the blimp and finds workers in sub-zero suits who are seemingly messing with the climate. However, the true culprit is quickly revealed to be Blue Snowman, who was using these lackeys all along. Diana engages them, but they freeze a frustrated Wonder Woman, who can tell she underestimated the character.

Blue hasn’t appeared much over the years, but this story proves their potential. Originally born as Byrna Brilyant, the original Blue debuted in Sensation Comics #59, by Joye Murchison and H.G. Peter, in 1946. Using their dad’s tech, Blue froze fields and valleys, blackmailing farmers for money to defrost the place. Blue also hated the patriarchy, which is why their mech-suit concealed their gender, and they even worked for Villainy Inc.

Luckily, the Amazon warrior-princess is able to use the workers and track Byrna to a small island in the Arctic where the real boss is revealed to be her longtime foe, Veronica Cale. She hired Blue in the DC Rebirth era to freeze Washington and kill Diana, and it seems like they’re still working together. Cale confesses the real plan isn’t for farmers, though; it’s to change the climate of the world, melt ice caps and drown countries — all to hold rich nations hostage.

Thankfully, Diana’s able to break Blue’s freeze-ray during the ambush, leading to her apprehending the villain and broadcasting what the real plan was. She’s hoping to use Blue to find where Cale’s hideout is but for now Diana wants the council to fix the damage that was done to the environment.
