The organizers of doujinshi event Comiket 99 have announced that it will be rescheduled to winter due to the Japanese government’s extension of the state of emergency.
Following the cancellation of C98, C99 was previously scheduled to take place from May 2-4, 2021 at Tokyo Big Sight. While the planned venue currently remains unchanged, further details on how it will be held are still unclear. In addition, the event will not be able to accept its usual large-scale audiences. Additional announcements will be made in future when the conditions are clearer regarding the state of the pandemic.
Officially titled Comic Market, Comiket is the world’s largest doujinshi fair, bringing in 750,000 attendees in 2019’s C97. It is usually held in August and December every year at Tokyo Big Sight under the titles of Summer Comiket and Winter Comiket respectively.
