Across the multiverse, many potential descendants of Thor have been introduced, and here are all of the Avenger and Asgardian’s most notable kids.
As one of Marvel’s most powerful figures, it’s always worth considering just what could become of Thor’s heroic lineage in the future. While he doesn’t have any children in the current Marvel Universe, plenty of glimpses into possible futures and alternate timelines have introduced possible heirs to the God of Thunder.
Now, we’re taking a closer look at some of the potential future children of Thor from every corner of the Marvel Multiverse.
WODEN
Created by Michael Gallagher and Dale Eaglesham in Guardians of the Galaxy #42, Woden is the son of Thor and Lady Sif from Earth-691. A distant future version of the Marvel Universe and home to the original 31st-century incarnation of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Woden was raised by his ageless mother as his father continued his adventures across the cosmos. Although he initially acted out and became a bullying fiend, his own adventures helped turn him into a noble figure. He even eventually proved worthy of lifting Mjolnir, using it to help defeat his Uncle Loki and his armies as they attacked Asgard. Woden became a hero in his own right, protecting the galaxy as a whole.
BRIGID
In a future visited by Captain Marvel, the modern hero finds herself working together with the future protectors of the world. This includes Brigid, the daughter of Thor and the forger of the new Avengers armory in Kelly Thompson and Lee Garbett’s Captain Marvel #23. Incredibly strong even by superhero standards, Brigid doesn’t see herself as the same kind of crusading hero as her father because she hasn’t yet proven worthy of Mjolnir. However, she still proves heroic and more than willing to follow Captain Marvel and her allies into battle wielding a pure black hammer.
BALDER
Balder is the son of Thor and the Enchantress from one of the realities introduced in What If? #114, by Jay Faerber and Gregg Schigiel. In a reality where the survivors of “Secret Wars” never escaped Battleworld, the heroes settled down and had families of their own. This included Balder, who constantly compared himself to his father. Although he doesn’t prove worthy of lifting Mjolnir (with his friend Crusader instead proving worthy of that honor), Balder still throws himself into battle. Taking up the title “Bravado,” Balder ends up joining his friends in their return to Earth to become this reality’s new Avengers.
THENA
In the MC2 Universe — a reality where many Marvel heroes retired and had families, leading to an entirely new generation of heroes — Thena is the daughter of the Mighty Thor and an unknown woman. After barely escaping the destruction of Asgard at the hands of her world’s Galactus, Thena retreated to Earth to empower the former Thunderstrike in Tom DeFalco and Ron Lim’s Avengers Next #2. She initially battled the Avengers of this era, breaking her-hammer against J2. Eventually, she found herself in the battle against her cousin Sylene, helping the future Avengers defeat Loki’s daughter and even receiving a new hammer from the heroic team.
