Wolverine doesn’t know where he is, but the world is burning all around him and a voice in his head is more than happy to explain the situation in Marauders #15. “With Saturnyne dead there was no contest… and there was no defense from the Arakkii in Otherworld,” Logan hears. He is bound by his hands and feet to a large, X-shaped cross planted in a smoldering field. The voice grows closer from behind him. “And what is the final fate of Krakoa’s deathless man?” it asks before plunging Wolverine’s own claws through his torso. The claws aren’t resting on Logan’s hands, though, they now belong to Saturnyne. This vision of the future where Logan has found himself crucified is the one he can look forward to if he goes through with killing Saturnyne at the dinner.

When Logan snaps back to reality, he is more than annoyed. Storm tries to talk to him, but he blows her off, telling her that it’s nothing and it didn’t happen anyway. Even when he gets back to the table Logan is more irritated than usual. It isn’t just the fact that he had someone poking around in his head or that his plot was foiled that has the Wolverine in such a state. Rather, this vision has also taken him back to somewhere he’s already familiar with. It wasn’t the ruins of his world or the flames that had engulfed them, rather, it was where Logan was situated to watch it all burn.
