Studio Ghibli’s first full 3DCG movie Earwig and the Witch will premiere through Japanese broadcaster NHK on December 30!
The main cast has also been confirmed: Hirasawa Hirohiro as Earwig, Terajima Shinobu as Bella Yaga, Toyokawa Etsushi as Mandrake, and Hamada Gaku as Thomas.
Directed by Miyazaki Goro, Earwig and the Witch follows a young girl named Earwig, who learns that her mother had magical powers when she is sent to live with a horrible witch.
It was named as part of the Official Selection for this year’s Cannes Film Festival, but could not be screened due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Its premiere in North America is slated for early 2021.
Earwig and the Witch airs on NHK on Dec. 30.
