Deadpool Just Crashed DC FanDome… Disguised as Batman

Marvel’s Deadpool was spotted at DC FanDome in the form of a statue dressed as Batman in the background of Chris Daughtry’s musical performance.

As a fan-favorite Marvel character with a reputation for breaking the fourth wall, Deadpool has a knack for irreverence, and for inserting himself in places where he doesn’t belong. To get into an event like DC FanDome, though, he needed to wear a disguise.

Fans who watched the musical performance by Chris Daughtry noted a wall full of Batman art behind the singer and his acoustic guitar, but also a life-sized statue. It was wearing Batman’s cowl and belt, but something wasn’t quite right: “Batman” was dressed all in red underneath, and his weapons and gear belonged to a very different comic book antihero.

The stealth Marvel appearance was clearly a deliberate move from Daughtry, who posted about his Deadpool statue on Instagram when he received it as a gift after touring with Nickelback.

However, it doesn’t diminish Daughtry’s credentials as a DC superfan. In addition to being the musician behind “Waiting for Superman” — which was a particularly apt thing for DC FanDome attendees to hear as they anticipated news about upcoming DC projects — Daughtry is an artist who once designed a Batman variant cover.

Since Daughtry was playing for an audience of comic fans, many of whom undoubtedly share his love for both DC and Marvel characters, the cameo from the Dark Knight With a Mouth was a sure hit.
