The Irregular at Magic High School is based on the light novel series written by Satou Tsutomu and illustrated by Ishida Kana. It received its first anime in 2014 and a movie in 2017.
The new season will adapt the Visitor arc of the original series, where magician siblings Tatsuya and Miyuki meet Angelina Kudou Shields, the world’s most powerful magician who can use a devastating technique named Heavy Metal Burst.
Several staff members from the movie have been confirmed for the second season: Honda Risako as director, Iwasaki Taku for music, and Eight Bit for animation. Nakamura Yuichi, Hayami Saori, and Hikasa Youko will also be reprising their roles as Shiba Tatsuya, Shiba Miyuki, and Angelina Kudou Shields respectively from the first season and movie.
