A new project is in the works for Ghost in the Shell, and it’s already been confirmed that Netflix will handle its premiere in 2020!
While there are no details yet concerning plot, it will be a full 3DCG animation titled Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045. It will also be brought to life by not one, but two directors: Kamiyama Kenji ( Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex ) and Aramaki Shinji ( Appleseed ). Production I.G. and Sola Digital Arts will handle production.
Ghost in the Shell began to captivate fans with its futuristic, technology-driven society bereft with political and philosophical issues back in 1989, when it was first serialized in Weekly Young Magazine. Written by Shirow Masamune, the series has since grown to include several manga and anime adaptations. Its most recent works include the film series Ghost in the Shell: Arise and the live-action film Ghost in the Shell, which starred Scarlett Johansson.
More information was promised in the issue of Young Magazine that went on sale Dec. 10, so stay tuned!
