As if! A Clueless reboot is officially in the works at Paramount Pictures.
First reported by Deadline, the Clueless reboot is being developed by Girls Trip writer Tracy Oliver, who is on board as a producer, and Glow writer Marquita Robinson, who will pen the screenplay. The project is still in the very early stages of development, meaning details surrounding the remake are relatively sparse. It’s also unclear if the original cast — with the exception of the late Brittany Murphy — will be involved in any capacity.

Interestingly enough, the Clueless remake news comes weeks after it was revealed a Clueless musical was set to make its Off-Broadway debut with Dove Cameron in the leading role as Cher, previously played by Alicia Silverstone in the film. The musical is set to begin previews next month before officially opening for the public in December.

Clueless, which originally hit theaters back on July 21, 1995, managed to take in $56.6 million domestically at the box office on a $12 million budget. The film was written and directed by Amy Heckerling and was very loosely based on the Jane Austen 1815 classic Emma. It starred Alicia Silverstone, Paul Rudd, Breckin Meyer, Jeremy Sisto, Stacey Dash and the late Brittany Murphy.
As of right now, no director is attached to the project.
