As Marvel’s future on Netflix becomes less and less clear, the entertainment company’s future on the forthcoming Disney streaming service appears to be off to a strong start.
When it was first announced that Disney was looking to launch its own streaming service, it was confirmed that the service would be the home of live-action Marvel shows, as well as live-action Star Wars shows. While the latter has already entered production on its first series, The Mandalorian, the Mouse House has yet to officially announce any Marvel series.
That’s expected to change soon, though, as it was previously reported that Marvel Studios will produce both a Scarlet Witch and Loki series for the service, with actors Elizabeth Olsen and Tom Hiddleston on board to reprise their roles as the titular characters. Now, a new rumor from MCU Cosmic suggests there may be a third series already in development, and it’s rumored to be centered around none other than Nick Fury.

The rumor states that there are two more shows in development beyond the Loki and Scarlet Witch series — one of those shows reportedly features Nick Fury in a major way, while the other is still a mystery. This, of course, should be treated as a rumor for the time being as, MCU Cosmic even admits it was unable to officially confirm the reports surrounding a Nick Fury series. However, should one come to fruition, it wouldn’t necessary be too surprising.
When it was first announced that Marvel Studios was looking to launch limited series for some of its most popular characters on the Disney streaming service, it was said that the shows would center around “second-tier characters.” Meaning, any character that was unlikely to receive their own film in the foreseeable future. Fury falls into that category.
Samuel L. Jackson’s Fury has quickly become a fan-favorite since his introduction in the stinger for 2008’s Iron Man and, unfortunately, he’s been relatively absent from the film side of things since 2012’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. Given his prolonged absence, Marvel Studios surely has plenty of story to work with if a Nick Fury series is, in fact, in development.
And if not? Well, at least Fury is finally returning to the big screen next year.

Samuel L. Jackson is set to return as Nick Fury in March’s Captain Marvel, as well as July’s Spider-Man: Far From Home. While not officially announced, it’s also expected Fury will return for the still-untitled Avengers 4.
