The solicitation text for Spider-Gwen: Ghost-Spider #4, which is slated to hit comic shops in January, reveals Gwen Stacy will get a brand-new power over the course of the ongoing Spider-Geddon event. However, this new ability will come with a heavy cost.
“In the aftermath of Spider-Geddon, Gwen Stacy has a unique ability all her own — one that will set her apart from other Spiders for years to come,” the solicitation reads. “But with that unique power, there will also come a unique — and grave — responsibility. One that Gwen will have no choice but to bear alone.”

Marvel’s Spider-People are certainly no strangers to the relationship between power and responsibility. However, it seems the burden that this mysterious new ability will put on Spider-Gwen has the potential to be a massive game-changer going forward.
Moreover, artist Bengal’s cover for Spider-Gwen: Ghost Spider #4 paints a rather somber picture indeed, begging the question of just how many of Gwen’s allies will fall by the time Spider-Geddon wraps up in December.
