John Carpenter’s New Score Gets the Spotlight in Featurette

Featuring one of the most hauntingly recognizable scores in horror cinema, the Halloween revival features the return of original filmmaker and composer John Carpenter to develop the upcoming film’s soundtrack.

An online featurette shows Carpenter composing the new score while observing clips from the film, utilizing the familiar piano-driven melody while incorporating new sounds and musical possibilities.

“I got to play with the original themes of Halloween, take the original score and modernize it with new sounds and new approaches,” explained Carpenter as he worked with technological advances in the recording studio with son Cody Carpenter and musician Daniel Davies to deliver something recognizable yet new.

“What we wanted to do is make a scary movie and that’s all we cared about,” admitted Carpenter. “And it is going to scare the shit out you.”
