The upcoming live-action Star Wars series is confirmed to involve the Mandalorians.
Jon Favreau, the series’ executive producer, posted an Instagram photo revealing the title of the show, The Mandalorian, along with plot details. The social media post confirms the series will be set in between Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, focusing on a “lone gunfighter.”

“After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe,” Favreau said in his post. “The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.”
Though the most well known Mandalorians are Jango and Boba Fett, the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series provided more insight into the Mandalorian culture. The Clone Wars featured multiple storylines centered around the planet and its eventual siege, and Star Wars Rebels saw the planet’s rescue from the Empire thanks to Sabine of Clan Wren and Bo-Katan.
The Mandalorian will arrive on the Disney streaming service in 2019.
