It seems like it wasn’t too long ago that Marvel officially announced that Chris Evans would be playing the movie studio’s star-spangled superhero, Captain America. Throughout the years, fans grew to love the character as he took on more a leadership role through The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Age of Ultron and Civil War.
For the past eight years, Evans has brought to life a character who has only grown in popularity and now, it appears as if the actor is ready to say goodbye. Recently, Marvel has been filming reshoots of Avengers 4, adding scenes to polish the final version of the film.
Well, earlier today, Chris Evans announced that he was officially done shooting his scenes.

“Officially wrapped on Avengers 4,” the actor wrote on Twitter. “It was an emotional day to say the least. Playing this role over the last 8 years has been an honor. To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful.”
Ever since filming for Avengers: Infinity War began, there have been increasing rumors that the film, as well as its sequel Avengers 4, would be the final adventure for many of the original six Avengers, Iron Man, the Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye and Captain America. While the future of many of these characters is still up in the air, Evans previously said that he wouldn’t be opposed to returning to the character. After all, the actor’s contract with Marvel was up after Infinity War, but he extended it for Avengers 4, when it was decided to split the movie into two.

However, with this tweet, Evans sure makes it sound like he is officially done with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and bidding farewell to a character he has played in more than seven films.
As of yet, little is known about the story of Avengers 4, but it’s assumed that the superheroes that survived Thanos’ Infinity snap will assemble once more to save the universe. While Steve Rogers had a smaller role to play in Infinity War, it’s been teased that he will take the lead as one of the most important characters of this next, and likely final, film.
