Artist Tony S. Daniel has revealed the gold cover to DC’s upcoming Batman #56.
Daniel, who has worked on an earlier volume of the series, from 2009 to 2011, has returned to provide interior and cover art for the October issue. It isn’t just a regular cover, either, instead being a more flashy variant; he revealed on Twitter that it’s a full on gold foil cover.

The Dark Knight’s looking to drop both the hammer and sickle on the KGBeast, whose rampage across Gotham City takes a toll on Nightwing when he’s injured in the fray. Blaming himself for his ward’s fate, Batman gets grimmer than usual—and vows to take the Russian assassin down like the Berlin Wall. Is even Gotham City ready for that much violence? The streets will run red like borscht if the Dark Knight gets his way against this Soviet scourge.
Batman #56 continues the storyline that began in the previous issue, in which KGBeast — yes, that KGBeast — shot Nightwing in the head. With his former sidekick in critical condition and already not in a great place, the Dark Knight intends to take out his fury on the assassin, in undoubtedly brutal fashion. This is part of a recent resurgence of the KGBeast, which included a role in All-Star Batman by Scott Snyder and John Romita Jr.
Batman #56, written by Tom King and with art by Tony S. Daniel, will be released Oct. 7 from DC.
