Fall 2018 Anime Sequel Roundup!

Fall’s anime season is almost upon us, and with it a ton of sequels for both old and new favorites! There are so many beloved characters to welcome back, from fiery Dragon Slayer Natsu in his last season of Fairy Tail to A Certain Magical Index III’s Touma, who’ll be appearing for its first new season in over seven years. For a quick rundown of what to catch up on (or perhaps start!) before the season begins, take a look at our list below.

Sword Art Online: Alicization

Genius gamer Kirito is back on Oct. 6 with Season 3 of Sword Art Online, which adapts the original light novel series’ Alicization Arc. The story follows Kirito as he once again becomes trapped inside an online game. After waking up with no memories of how he got there, he must search for a way out with his companions Eugeo, a mysterious NPC who seems to possess human emotions and a golden-haired girl named Alice who excels in the Sacred Arts.

Over a year after the conclusion of the beloved original manga by Mashima Hiro, Fairy Tail’s anime is also coming to an end with its third and final series to air from Oct. 7. As well as the return of Natsu, Lucy, Happy and their Fairy Tail guild comrades, fans will be able to see their fates collide with dark wizard Zeref one last time.

The second season of Tokyo Ghoul:re is slated to air from Oct. 9. As the sequel to hit anime series Tokyo Ghoul, it will continue the story of half-ghoul Kaneki Ken, who took on the identity of Quinx Squad mentor Sasaki Haise after losing his memories.

A Certain Magical Index III

Seven years after Season 2 finished airing, Touma and Index will return on Oct. 5. Set in a society where the lines between magic and science have become blurred, A Certain Magical Index III will carry on with the story of Touma and his companions as they take on the world.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind

Adapting the fifth part of Araki Hirohiko’s eccentric manga Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, Golden Wind is set two years after the events of Diamond is Unbreakable. Slated to air from Oct. 5, it will pick up with Hirose Kouichi being sent to Italy by Kujou Joutarou in order to investigate Giorno Giovanna, the series’ fifth “JoJo”, who dreams of reforming the mafia from the inside.

With Season 1 having concluded in June, fans can watch more of Saichi and Asirpa’s adventures from Oct. 8. See how the pair fares as as they search for a stash of gold in the bitter northern cold – while attempting to evade those who would literally kill to find it.

Everyone’s favorite attorney will be back with more courtroom dramatics from Oct. 6. Its first season adapted the first two games of the original franchise, and its sequel will be based on the third title, Trials and Tribulations. Fans can look forward to the inclusion of an original story and the anime debut of Godot, a tough, coffee-loving prosecutor.

Inazuma Eleven: Orion no Kokuin

With over 100 episodes already under its belt and and a parallel world anime currently airing, even more Inazuma Eleven will be on the airwaves from October in the form of a new anime series named Orion no Kokuin. Previous members like Inamori Asuto, Haizaki Ryouhei, and Nosaka Yuma will come together to be captained by goalie Endou Mamoru in Japan’s representative soccer team.

If you aren’t ready for these upcoming sequels yet, better start rewatching and revising quick! Which one are you looking forward to the most?
