Season 2 Will Expand Black Lightning’s World in A Major Way

Actor Cress Williams, who plays the titular hero on Black Lightning, has made it clear the CW series will expand the crimefighter’s world next season, geographically and in its approach to its characters.

“Now that we’ve introduced everybody to this world and to these characters, we start to expand, so we get to know more about Tobias and expand on him,” Williams told IGN. “Lynn as she starts to take on responsibilities for the pods, which expands her journey; and Jennifer, as we discover that she doesn’t know how to work these powers, it expands her storyline.”

“We even expand geographically,” he continued. “We’re gonna discover other parts of Freeland as well and realize that Freeland is bigger than we’ve shown thus far, and different parts of Freeland are like different communities. So now that we’ve established the world, we get to really go deeper and expand at the same time.”

Apart from learning more about the show’s current crop of villains and how the heroes we’ve encountered thus far are harnessing their powers, Williams’ statement opens up the possibilities the Pierce family could end up meeting other vigilantes such as The Outsiders, and other enemies both within and outside of Freeland.
