Set in modern times, 80 years after the original adventures of Cliff Secord, the first Rocketeer, his exploits are all but forgotten and reduced to mere folklore. However, when someone new discovers the jet pack, it sets off another race between those with good and bad intentions to get their hands on it.

“It’s an immense honor for us to contribute to Dave Steven’s legacy, and a big responsibility as well— making sure we stay true to the spirit of the character for both old and new fans alike,” Charretier and Colinet said in a joint statement. “We hope people will find a fresh, pulp-noir, modern Rocketeer, as Javier Pulido’s wonderfully unique style and inventive storytelling bring this new adventure to life.”

The Rocketeer was introduced in 1982 in a series of short stories written and illustrated by Dan Stevens, and published by Pacific Comics. The Rocketeer’s adventures were adapted in 1991 as a live-action film directed by Joe Johnston (Captain America: The First Avenger) and starring Billy Campbell, Jennifer Connelly and Timothy Dalton.
