Mark Hamill is widely known for portraying Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise, but the actor has also made a name for himself as the voice actor of The Joker in Batman: The Animated Series. With Saturday, September 15 dedicated as Batman Day, Hamill sent a special shout-out to his Batman: The Animated Series co-star and voice of the Dark Knight, Kevin Conroy.
Hamill’s message on Twitter read, “For years, I dreamed of finding a part as far from Luke as possible… Thanks to everyone at #BatmanTheAnimatedSeries for making my dreams come true! On this special day a SHOUT OUT to my one & only #DarkKnight: @RealKevinConroy #HappyBatmanDay2018”

For years, I dreamed of finding a part as far from Luke as possible…
Thanks to everyone at #BatmanTheAnimatedSeries for making my dreams come true! On this special day a SHOUT OUT to my one & only #DarkKnight: @RealKevinConroy🦇#HappyBatmanDay2018 pic.twitter.com/tJ4FCfXyaM— Mark Hamill (@HamillHimself) September 15, 2018
The heartfelt message was also accompanied by four different images: an artistic rendering of Hamill and Joker’s faces side-by-side, similar to another Batman villain, Two-Face; Hamill cackling in front of a photo of The Joker; an image of the Clown Prince of Crime from Batman: The Animated Series; and the iconic shot of Batman standing on a rooftop in the closing moments of the animated series’ intro.
You can tell the part of The Joker meant a lot to Hamill, as his message references how he was looking to find an acting role that differed from the Jedi Knight. Thankfully, the creative team behind Batman: The Animated Series was able to make that happen.
