150 years have passed since Edo was renamed to Tokyo, and the city will be celebrating this milestone with the Tokyo 150 Years Festival. Held from October 26-28 at Hama-rikyu Gardens with the theme of the old meeting the new, it will feature a very special guest: world-famous Vocaloid diva Hatsune Miku!
Miku’s program is titled “Koku wo Asobu Jikuu no Tabi~Hatsune Miku Links Tokyo150~”, in which she will be projected on a huge water screen wearing fashion from the Meiji, Taisho, Showa, and Heisei eras.
Miku will also sing hit songs spanning the 150 years since the city name’s revision. In addition, musical director Satou Masahiko will bring Miku’s music to life with jazz arrangements, ahead of a full live show at Kawasaki Jazz 2018.
Tokyo 150 Years Festival will be held from Oct. 26 to 28 at Hama-rikyu Gardens. For more information, visit the official website.
