WIP from Tom Grindberg the artist working with me to relaunch The Darkness. Yes Jackie Estacado is in this series, maybe not in the role you expect but he is there. So is Sara Pezzini. #makecomics #thedarkness #ComicBook pic.twitter.com/pCRRwOqxZu

The Darkness, created by Marc Silvestri, Garth Ennis and David Wohl in 1996, started out as a supporting character in the pages of Witchblade. He became so popular that Top Cow spun him off into his own series later on that same year. In a short period of time, artist Silvestri and writer Ennis had a hit on their hands.
Darkness was one of the hottest selling books at Top Cow, a division of Image Comics, launched by Silvestri in 1997. The highest-selling book that year was Darkness #11, which had 11 variant covers and sold around 357,006 copies. The series had two times the number of sales of the first issue of Marvel’s post-Heroes Reborn Avengers relaunch.
The new The Darkness series will hit stands sometime in 2019.
