Game of Thrones star Kit Harington may be keeping silent on the fate of Jon Snow, but he’s definitely making sure to voice his concerns when it comes to gay representation in superhero movies, as he’s taken aim at Marvel Studios in particular for not casting a gay actor as a lead in a comic book movie to date.
“There’s a big problem with masculinity and homosexuality that they can’t somehow go hand in hand,” Harington said in an interview about inclusivity with Variety. “That we can’t have someone in a Marvel movie who’s gay in real life and plays some superhero. I mean, when is that going to happen?”

Marvel has made strides this year in terms of people of color thanks to Black Panther, and studio president Kevin Feige has indicated there will be even more minorities and a greater push for equality involved in Phase Four. Of course, female representation is high on the agenda, with Captain Marvel already starting that movement for female-led films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
However, Harington clearly wants to see sexuality addressed, with gay actors starring in capes and suited up to save the world. LGBTQI representation on-screen has been limited in mainstream comic book movies, with Valkyrie’s (Tesse Thompson) bisexual nature reportedly cut from Thor: Ragnarok. Until then, all Harington can do is urge fans to make the calls for the changes he wants to see, as well.
