The revelation that the cast of Shane Black’s The Predator originally included a convicted sex offender by Olivia Munn saw the studio chastise the actor for informing her co-stars of the inclusion.
News broke last week that Munn alerted Fox that the upcoming sequel had her act opposite Steven Wilder Striegel, an old friend of Black’s had pled guilty to two felonies involving a teenage family member in 2010 and spent six months in jail as part of his conviction. In response, the studio cut Striegel’s appearance in the film but was not pleased when Munn similarly notified her co-stars about Striegel’s history.

“I wanted to give my costars a heads-up so that they wouldn’t be blindsided like I was,” explained Munn while appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show this morning. “When I did call my costars, I got chastised the next day by the studio for telling them, and ‘Why am I just not keeping it quiet? It’s all going to be OK. It got deleted. What’s the big deal?’ And I said, ‘Well, it happened.’”
Since revealing the news, Munn has observed that most of the cast has since distanced themselves from her while co-stars Sterling K. Brown tweeted his support for her yesterday and Boyd Holbrook issued a statement supporting Munn while pulling out of promoting the film.

“I think that people expected me to be quiet because it’s my movie, but the truth is I don’t care,” reflected Munn. “I don’t care if this movie gave me all the money in the world and all the power. If it cost one person’s life, they can take it.”

Brown, Alfie Allen, Thomas Jane, Augusto Aguilera, Jake Busey, and Yvonne Strahovski. The film arrives in theaters on September 14.
