Many readers consider the Eisner Award-winning duo of Tom King and Mitch Gerads to be a dream team, and rightfully so after the impressive work they’ve done together. Now, DC Comics fans could be getting more from the duo, as King teased a mystery Batman project with his frequent collaborator.
“Damnit! I’ve got this perfect idea for a classic, gritty Batman detective story, but I need just the right artist to do it,” King tweeted. “Who could…where could I find… Looking around, looking around… Wait a second!” Additionally, King included a photo of Gerads’ 2018 Eisner for Best Penciller/Inker on Mister Miracle.

King and Gerads already worked together on Batman #14-15, Batman #23, and of course, the famous broken-off wedding debacle in Issue #50. However, it’s their work on Mister Miracle that’s breaking ground at DC as a psychological drama involving Scott Free’s depression and parenthood.
Of course, both creators are renowned for Vertigo’s critically-acclaimed The Sheriff of Babylon, which used King’s real-life experiences working in the CIA to detail a terrorist tale in the Middle East. That said, any Bat-story which involves King’s take on detective work is something which will always draw fans in, especially if Gerads is helping him paint the adventure. And who knows? Maybe it might involve chasing Selina Kyle once more.
