The Witcher 3 Voice Actor Gives Henry Cavill His Blessing


Henry Cavill already has one firm supporter to star in Netflix’s adaptation of The Witcher and its from a very familiar voice.

Doug Cockle, who voiced Geralt of Rivia across all three installments of CD Projekt Red’s acclaimed Witcher video game trilogy, has tweeted his blessing for Cavill to star as the character in the upcoming television series along with his support for showrunner Lauren Hissrich.

After weeks of speculation, news that Cavill had been cast as the titular fantasy character was confirmed by Hissrich earlier this week.

Created by Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher began as a series of dark fantasy short stories and novels first published in 1986. Since then, it has been adapted to a variety of mediums including a trilogy of games developed by Polish video game developer CD Projekt Red starting with 2007’s The Witcher.

Based on the fantasy novel series of the same name by Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher is developed for television by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich (The Defenders). The adaptation stars Henry Cavill as the title character and is expected to premiere for its eight-episode first season sometime in either late 2019 or early 2020 on Netflix.
