Despite experiencing a successful revival, the beloved sitcom Roseanne came to a premature end in May after star Roseanne Barr made racist remaks on Twitter. Not long after, ABC greenlit a spinoff called The Conners, which will focus on the rest of Roseanne’s family. But Barr now insists she holds no ill will toward her former co-stars, and will neither “bless” nor “curse” the new series.
“I’m staying away from it,” she said on Rabbi Shumley Boteach’s podcast. “Not wishing bad on anyone and I don’t wish good for my enemies. That’s what I gotta do… I have some mental health issues of depression and stuff. I got to stay in the middle or I’ll go dark and I don’t want to go dark again. I’ve done it — after all, I was married to Tom Arnold. Ha! Ha!”

Barr said she won’t be watching The Conners when it premieres Oct. 16 on ABC, but is instead planning a trip to Israel, to study “with any rabbi that I can ask to teach me.” She has stated she’s working on a new sitcom, but has not offered any details.
Originally airing for nine seasons, from 1988 to 1997, on ABC, Roseanne was revived in March for a 10th season that retconned the events of the divisive Season 9. The network had already ordered another season by the time it canceled the show in the wake of Barr’s comments.
