USA Network’s Mr. Robot Confirmed to End With Season 4

USA Network has confirmed the upcoming fourth season of its acclaimed thriller Mr. Robot will be the last.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the final season will premiere this winter, and expand from eight to 12 episodes. Creator Sam Esmail considered plotting out a fifth season alongside the other show writers, but they ultimately decided to increase the length and impact of the fourth season instead.

Esmil has always claimed the series would last only four or five seasons, so the decision to end it shouldn’t be a big shock to fans. The series has won a great deal of critical acclaim during its run, including an Emmy for star Rami Malek and a Peabody for the writing staff.

“Since day one, I’ve been building toward one conclusion — and in breaking the next season of Mr. Robot, I have decided that conclusion is finally here,” Esmail told the outlet. “Everyone on the creative team, including the amazing people at USA and UCP, didn’t want to say goodbye, but we ultimately have too much respect for Elliot’s journey to extend past its inevitable ending.”

Mr. Robot is scheduled to return for its fourth and final season in 2019.
