An upcoming detour to Weirdworld will force the Champions into a new fantasy setting, with Marvel’s November 2018 solicitations showcasing the medieval designs for Nova, Wasp, and Viv Vision.
Marvel’s premiere teen superhero team is poised to head into Weirdworld after two of their number disappear in the strange land. Previous previews have shown off most of the team and their new fantasy-inspired designs, but left out three major members of the squad. With the preview for November’s Champions #26 released by Marvel, fans now get the chance to see the new looks for Nova, Wasp and Viv Vision.

Weirdworld was first introduced as a fantasy setting in the 1970s by Doug Moench and Mike Ploog. After the events of the 2015 massive crossover Secret Wars, the mystical locale has been brought into the Marvel universe proper. Writer Jim Zub has plenty of experience writing fantasy concepts, and had this to say about the story, “Everyone who knows me and my work knows that sword & sorcery is near and dear to my heart. It’s a potent vehicle for building stories of survival and heroism in worlds where life can end on the tip of a blade and creatures lurk in every shadow… Champions fight for what’s right, no matter where they are… or who they are, and this upcoming weird and wonderful three-part story is going to show you how true that is.”
