Annual cosplay event World Cosplay Summit takes place every year in Nagoya, Aichi and attracts top cosplayers from all over the world. This year, however, an unexpected star came from closer to home – Aichi prefecture’s very own governor, Omura Hideaki.
Omura has a long history of cosplay throughout his official career, having previously attended WCS as Space Battleship Yamato’s Abelt Dessler, Dragon Ball’s Goku, Detective Conan’s Edogawa Conan, Gegege No Kitaro’s Kitaro, and Gintama’s Hijikata. This year he chose Sword Art Online’s Kirito, which proved a hugely popular choice with cosplayers and fans online.
Although dressed in an ordinary suit rather than cosplay this time, Omura was also at the summit’s World Cosplay Championship to present the trophy to 2018’s winning team, Mexico.
素晴らしかった‼️おめでとうございます❕ https://t.co/TYeMGbM23z”>pic.twitter.com/TYeMGbM23z
