Marvel Television Cancelled Deadpool Animated Series

Earlier this year, it was announced that FX and Marvel were no longer moving forward with their plans for an animated Deadpool series. Now, the Chief Executive Officer for FX, John Landgraf, has commented on the show’s demise.

The initial reasoning behind the cancellation was revealed to be due to creative differences between all parties. This indicated it was very much a mutual decision, despite Donald Glover’s “leaking” of the pilot script online shortly thereafter. According to Landgraf, however, the decision to pass on the series was made by Marvel.

“Marvel controls the IP and the decisions around the IP. It was their decision not to go forward with Donald and Stephen’s version, I personally liked it,” Landgraf told Deadline.

Glover was set to write the 10-episode series alongside his brother, Stephen Glover. The duo exited the project, alongside FX, back in March. It was thought Marvel Television could shop the program elsewhere without the Glover brothers attached. However, nothing has happened regarding the project since then.

Marvel Television and FX are still involved with the X-Men drama, Legion, which is set to return for its third season in 2019.
