Hayao Miyazaki’s Princess Mononoke is one of the greatest animated films of all time and artist Jim Lee has provided his own version of the titular character from the film.
During a live Twitch stream this past Sunday, Lee illustrated San, also known as the eponymous Princess Mononoke, from the Miyazaki classic. The 1997 Japanese film followed a young prince caught in between the fantasy conflict of the old gods of the forest and humanity. San, is a young woman raised by wolves that initially fears mankind and its disrespect for nature but eventually grows to trust Prince Ashitaka.

The Miyazaki character is not the first Japanese icon drawn publicly by Lee this year. In April, the Chief Creative Officer and Co-Publisher drew a stunning image of Akira Toriyama’s Goku from Dragon Ball on Twitch. Additionally, the superstar comic book creator has been providing variant covers for Scott Snyder’s Justice League relaunch since the series’ premiere this past June.
Lee’s next live Twitch stream is scheduled for Sunday, August 5 at 10 AM PST on twitch.tv/jimlee. Here’s to hoping for Porco Rosso.
