Superman writer Brian Michael Bendis has released a two-page spread from an upcoming issue of the title, and it looks like Superman’s newest enemy is about to meet his biggest threat.

Bendis took a moment to compliment the work of series artist Ivan Reis by showing off a scene from Superman #3. The page depicts new Superman villain Rogol Zaar fighting a group of aliens, and clearly making easy work of them all.
the fact that this has happened to me numerous times in my career is insane but I am, once again, on Superman, working with one of the best comic artists of this generation at the very top of their game. pic.twitter.com/j76tqCIhM9

What makes this tweet truly of note is the fact that Doomsday, the monster who once killed the Man of Steel, is lurking in the background. It’s hard to see him between a leaping alien attacker and what looks like some kind of authority figure, but it would be a mistake not to have these two behemoths battle.

Rogol Zaar was previously locked away inside the Phantom Zone at the end of the Man of Steel mini-series. Now that Superman and the entire Earth has been shifted into the Zone, a confrontation between the Last Son of Krypton and the villain who may have decimated the Kryptonian race is inevitable.
