FLCL Alternative and FLCL Progressive, the sequels to cult hit OVA FLCL, will be coming to cinema screens across Japan in Sept. With the release nearing, a trailer and new key visual by original character designer Sadamoto Yoshiyuki have been unveiled.
FLCL is an original six part OVA released from 2000 to 2001. The series follows ordinary 12-year-old Naota as his boring everyday life is turned upside down by the arrival of vespa riding heroine Haruka.
Its upcoming sequels have been created under the supervision of original creator Tsurumaki Kazuya with Sadamoto (known for his work on Neon Genesis Evangelion returning to handle character design along with rock band The Pillows whose music will once again be featured.
The pillows’ “FooL on CooL generation” will be released on Sept. 5 alongside an Alternative and Progressive CD soundtrack box set.
FLCL Alternative opens at cinemas across Japan on Sept. 7 with Progressive following on Sept. 28.
