Netflix sure knows how to get us excited about its next big animated project.
On Twitter, along with the reveal of a first poster, the streaming giant has teased a new fantasy cartoon series titled The Dragon Prince, which comes from Aaron Ehasz, the head writer behind the fan-favorite Nickelodeon series, Avatar: The Last Airbender.
According to Netflix’s tweet, the series will be “about two human princes who forge an unlikely bond with the elfin assassin sent to kill them, embarking on an epic quest to bring peace to their warring lands.” From what little we now know of the series, some parallels can be drawn between The Dragon Prince and The Last Airbender: mainly, a trio of main characters, a land at war and fantastical elements.

Joining Ehasz on the project is the Uncharted video game director, Justin Richmond. Both creators, along with executive producer Giancarl Volpe, will attend Comic-Con International in San Diego on July 21, where more information about the project will be revealed, and perhaps where a first look at the animated series will debut.
