Jason Momoa to Star in Apple’s Futuristic Drama See

With Aquaman deep in post-production, star Jason Momoa has signed on to star in an Apple TV original series.

The DCEU actor will lead the cast of the streaming service’s sci fi series See as the warrior leader Baba Voss. While details on the futuristic drama are currently being kept under wraps, the first season is expected to run for eight episodes written by Stephen Knight (Peaky Blinders) and directed by Francis Lawrence (Red Sparrow). Both Knight and Lawrence will executive produce the series.

Apple officially announced plans to create their own original television series and feature film projects to air on Apple TV in January 2017. The move will put the tech giant in direct competition with other streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon. See shows a serious commitment from Apple to invest in new original content though an official release date for the series has yet to be announced.

The upcoming series also marks Momoa’s return to television after dropping out of the planned reboot of The Crow in May. Before debuting in the DCEU with a silent cameo in 2016’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Momoa had a prolific TV career currently starring on Netflix’s Frontier as well as appearing in memorable roles on HBO’s Game of Thrones and SundanceTV’s The Red Road.
