Marvel Studios Pays Tribute to Steve Ditko with Spider-Man Photo


As the comic book industry continues to mourn the loss of the late Steve Ditko, Marvel Studios has stepped forward to thank the prolific artist for his part in the creation of the Amazing Spider-Man by sharing a photo of the web-slinger, who was played by Tom Holland in Captain America: Civil WarSpider-Man: Homecoming and Avengers: Infinity War in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The photo of the MCU Spider-Man was shared on Twitter, with the message, “Thank you Steve. Rest In Peace.”

Marvel and DC Comics both paid tribute to Steve Ditko through official statements on their respective websites: Marvel’s Dan Buckley, Joe Quesada, C.B. Cebulski and Nick Lowe thanked Ditko for his contributions to the company, with DC Entertainment Publishers Dan DiDio and Jim Lee acknowledging his many achievements.

Steve Ditko died at the age of 90 on June 29. His projects ranged from Marvel to DC to several independent works, even delivering memorable characters, like Squirrel Girl, as an elder. The Objectivist writer-artist injected his philosophy into works like The Question, which would later be expanded upon in the highest-regarded comics work of all-time, Watchmen.
