As Americans prepare for a weekend of barbecues and fireworks for Independence Day, Canadians are already busy politely partying the night away for the July 1st celebration of Canada Day. But what’s a Canadian celebration without Wade Wilson?
The social media accounts of Fox’s Deadpool 2 movie shared a new image of Deadpool standing proudly in front of the red maple leaf of the Canadian flag. The caption wishes fans a happy Canada Day by thanking the Great White North for giving the world Ryan Reynolds.

The post is also a reminder of Wade Wilson’s comic book roots as a Canadian. It was therefore almost serendipitous that Reynolds, who was already born to play Deadpool, nabbed the role.
The movies have jabbed a little fun at the expanse of the country, and Canada, the polite country that it is, always laughs along.
