Sony Pictures is reportedly developing a Spider-Man spinoff movie starring Marvel’s Silk.
According to TheWrap, former Sony Pictures chief Amy Pascal is producing the project, which would join a development slate that includes Silver and Black, Morbius, the Living Vampire and Nightwatch. Ruben Fleischer’s Venom, starring Tom Hardy, will kick off the studio’s planned expansion of the Spider-Man franchise in October.

Formally introduced in 2014 in Marvel’s The Amazing Spider-Man #4, by Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos, Silk is Cindy Moon, who was bitten by the same radioactive spider as Peter Parker and, as such, was imbued with similar powers. However, while Peter lived a double life as Spider-Man, Cindy didn’t become Silk until much later, after living for decades in a bunker set up by her one-time mentor, Ezekiel Sims.
After leaving this bunker, she teamed with Spider-Man, and a slew of other spider-character, to take on Morlun and his family of vampiric Inheritors.
Although it’s been stated the Marvel Cinematic Universe won’t cross over with Sony’s Spider-Man universe, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker had a classmate in Spider-Man: Homecoming named Cindy, whom some of speculated could be Silk.
