Production on the Swamp Thing live-action television series may be starting up much sooner rather than later.
The show, developed for Warner Bros. streaming service, DC Universe, is set to begin shooting this fall in North Carolina, according to reports from Omega Underground.

It’s believed casting for the series is already underway and North Carolina has been chosen due to its nature of not being a busy place; something showrunners Mark Verheiden and Gary Dauberman believe will benefit the project in terms of production schedules.
The show, which boasts Aquaman director James Wan as an executive producer, is being eyed for airing next year, although as of now production dates and specific filming locations are all in the early stages of development.
Recently, character descriptions surfaced, including that of Alec Holland, the man who’s transformed into the creature thanks to a somewhat scientific bond to a supernatural force known as the Green.

Swamp Thing was created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson in 1971 and features Alec Holland as a brilliant scientist who finds himself bonded with plant life after an attempt is made on his life. The character starred in a 1982 live-action movie by Wes Craven and a live-action series from 1990-1993. There were talks back in February of bringing Swamp Thing back to the big screen from Annihilation and Ex Machina director Alex Garland.
Executive produced by James Wan, Mark Verheiden, Gary Dauberman and Michael Clear, Swamp Thing will join Titans, Young Justice: Outsiders, Harley Quinn and Metropolis on the DC Universe service, which is expected to launch later this year. Swamp Thing will arrive on the service in 2019.
