Deadpool 2 Concept Art Offers Close Look at Cable’s Techno-Organic Virus Design

While some elements of Josh Brolin’s timesliding mutant Cable were omitted from the character’s big-screen debut in Deadpool 2 — namely his convoluted backstory — fans were still able to get a glimpse of the toll the classic techno-organic virus took on his body. However, we’re now able to get an even closer look, courtesy of concept art designed by Jerad S. Marantz.

Marantz posted a photo on Instagram of “one of the many concepts [he] did for the film.” The highlight, of course, is the techno-organic virus that transforms Brolin/Cable’s body into part-machine.

The techno-organic virus, as evidenced by the photo, transforms organic matter into technology. Cable, as longtime readers know, is able to use his powerful telekinetic powers to keep the virus in check, though doing so drastically lowers his ability to access the full potential of his mutant abilities.

In theaters now, director David Leitch’s Deadpool 2 stars Ryan Reynolds as the titular Deadpool, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, T.J. Miller as Weasel, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Stefan Kapičić as Colossus, Zazie Beetz as Domino, Julian Dennison as Russell and Josh Brolin as Cable.
