Deadpool 2’s Rotten Tomatoes Score Revealed

The reviews are coming in, and the Merc with a Mouth’s second live-action solo outing is fighting for its right to be Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.

After debuting with a score of 90 percent, Deadpool 2 has dropped to 84 percent as of publication with 64 fresh reviews and 13 rotten, putting the film right in line with the first Deadpool and its final score of 83 percent. Of course, that’s nothing to scoff at, and the punchy, mature comedy action flick is primed to make a splash at this weekend’s box office no matter what critics say.

Reviews for the Ryan Reynolds-led vehicle are middling so far, praising the film’s use of X-Men lore and humor, but criticizing a lack of depth seen in recent superhero films. Zazie Beetz’ Domino looks to be a scene-stealer, while Josh Brolin’s Cable dials up the edgy humor of the ’90s, a far cry from his recent portrayal of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. CBR’s review calls out Beetz and Brolin’s performances as high points as well, but ultimately determined the sequel “feels like just another superhero movie” that “is trying to punch way, way above its weight class.”

It won’t be long before we find out if Deadpool 2 can utilize the same box office magic that led its predecessor to a global box office take of more than $783 million. If all else fails, blame it on Wolverine.
