James Gunn Answers All the Burning Questions You Keep Asking Him

WARNING: This article contains spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War, in theaters now.

Guardians of the Galaxy writer/director James Gunn has answered the most frequently asked questions that fans have bombarded him with in the past, including questions about Kraglin, Adam Warlock, Groot and the films’ Easter eggs. Gunn posted the answers to his Twitter account on Wednesday with the caption “Guardians Incredibly Frequently Asked Questions.”

In regards to Kraglin, who’s portrayed in the movies by Gunn’s brother Sean, Gunn revealed that the fin that Kraglin has at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is not the same one that Yondu used, which remained on Yondu’s body during his funeral. He also revealed that Kraglin is off doing something important during Avengers: Infinity War and that he will return. Good news for Kraglin fans then, as it seems he’s survived Thanos’ deadly finger-snap.

Gunn also made it clear that Adam Warlock will not be appearing in Avengers 4, and may not even appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 despite the end-credits teaser in Vol. 2. When pressed by a fan about why Warlock was teased if he may not appear in this phase of the MCU, Gunn responded saying, “Because I love Adam Warlock and didn’t want him left out of the MCU entirely. I wanted to create a space for him that would have to be filled at some time. Look at how long that first Thanos tease took to be fulfilled — and that turned out okay!”

Gunn also said that Vol. 3 will be set after Avengers 4, which is bound to lead to much speculation about Avengers 4 and the future of the Guardians, who, after the events of Infinity War, are down to one member (Rocket) and Nebula, the rest being victims of Thanos in his quest to wipe out half of all life in the universe.

Not to be forgotten, Gunn talked about Groot again, mere days after breaking the hearts of fans everywhere when he revealed that Groot’s final word to Rocket in Infinity War was “dad,” which he later apologized for making fans cry about.

This time around, Gunn revealed that Young Groot didn’t retain any of the memories of Groot from the first movie. He also let it be known that the Guardians all have a translator implanted in them so they can both understand and be understood by others, explaining why the Guardians can all now understand Groot in Infinity War, which Gunn also confirmed.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to film next year and will release in 2020. In the meantime, the Guardians can be seen in Avengers: Infinity War, in theaters now. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Infinity War stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Paul Bettany, Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Olsen, Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chadwick Boseman, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Tom Hiddleston and Josh Brolin, among others.
