Amid the news on Wednesday about Conjuring director James Wan’s plans for a Swamp Thing series on the newly christened DC Universe streaming platform comes word that Metropolis will be delayed.
Deadline reports the live-action project, ordered straight to series in late January for a planned 2019 premiere, is being placed into redevelopment.

Set in the gleaming City of Tomorrow before the arrival of Superman, Metropolis focuses on Lois Lane and Lex Luthor as they investigate “fringe science,” and expose the city’s dark secrets. Produced by Gotham‘s John Stephens and Danny Camon, the series had been targeted to begin production this summer in New York City.
It’s unknown whether the retooling will change the announced 2019 debut of Metropolis on DC Universe. The streaming service’s current slate of new programming includes Warner Bros. Television’s live-action Titans and Swamp Thing, and Warner Bros. Animation’s Harley Quinn, and Young Justice: Outsiders, the long-awaited continuation of the fan-favorite Cartoon Network series.
Warner Bros.’ DC Universe streaming service will launch later this year, with premiere dates for each series expected to be announced before then.
